Celebrating Jamaican Independence Day at Priscilla Wakefield House – August 2026
On 8 August, Priscilla Wakefield House came alive with the vibrant colours, flavours and sounds of Jamaica as our residents, staff and visitors gathered together to celebrate Jamaican Independence Day.
It was a truly joyful occasion, filled with delicious Jamaican food, refreshing drinks, lively music and plenty of laughter. The wonderful aroma of Jamaican delicacies filled the air, giving everyone the chance to enjoy and discover some much-loved flavours and traditional dishes.
The music brought even more energy to the celebration, with Jamaican tunes playing throughout the day and encouraging everyone to join in. There was plenty of dancing, singing, clapping and laughter as residents, staff and visitors enjoyed the festive atmosphere together.
The celebration was a wonderful opportunity to recognise and appreciate Jamaican culture, traditions and heritage, while bringing everyone together as one community. It was lovely to see residents enjoying themselves, sharing smiles and creating special memories with staff, families and visitors.
The atmosphere throughout the day was truly warm, colourful and full of happiness. From the delicious food to the infectious music and wonderful company, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped organise the celebration and contributed to making it such a memorable day. We were delighted to celebrate Jamaican culture together and share in the spirit of unity, joy and togetherness.
