Tea Dance at Irish Centre – 26 April 2018
On April 26th a group of Irish residents who live at PWH attended a Tea Dance organised by the Haringey Irish Pensioners at The Irish Centre in Pretoria road. Everyone was happy to go and meet their folks for a chat and a dance. Mary Cunningham was accompanied by her daughter who kindly decided to take part in this activity. The trip was made by cab and during the journey we sang some Irish songs such as “In Dublin’s Fair City” and “Cockles and Mussels”. When we arrived, a table was reserved for Priscilla Wakefield House and the committee members came to welcome everyone. It was lovely to find that the Chair of the Haringey Pensioners is a family member of our resident Gabrielle Doocey, who was a familiar face to many as she used to attend in the past. Some of our residents, in particular Mary Murphy, didn’t say no to a dance and filled the dance floor with energy. The only Irish man in our group, Tony Walsh, decided to relax and enjoy the view with a nice cup of tea served with traditional bread with butter which was served throughout the event and Teresa Halpin received a pack of bread to enjoy at home. During the afternoon we made some funny pictures using face filters. There was a lot of laughter and everyone had a great time. A big thank you to the organization who made a kind discount to the fee for PWH.
We are looking forward to the next Tea Dance.
