Small Stories, Big Picture – Headway East London’s Brain Injury Conference – 16 October 2024
Mavis, Wellbeing Coordinator, attended Headway East London’s Brain Injury Conference. This year, the conference focused on myth-bursting and challenging misconceptions about brain injury and highlighted the often-hidden challenges of living with a brain injury, with opportunities to ask questions and join panel discussion. The conference was co-produced with Headway members building on their experiences and the organisations’ expertise to create unique training. The aim of the conference was to empower professionals to deliver better, fairer and more informed support by providing insight into what it means to live with a brain injury.
Mavis participated in a Kintsugi workshop, an ancient Japanese art of embracing imperfection and enjoyed homemade food provided by the Headway kitchen crew.
Mavis said she found the conference educational, informative and relevant. She learned about fatigue after brain injury and the ways it can manifest.
Training will be rolled out for all teams going forward.
