Priscilla Wakefield – Tottenham Activist, Forgotten Heroine – 22 October 2018

On the 22nd October 2018 some of our residents alongside staff attended a Tribute to Priscilla Wakefield. The evening was enjoyed with a special talk about the reflection on feminism and microfinance from Susan Johnson who is an associate professor from Bath. Priscilla Wakefield was a Feminist Economist, Writer, founder of the Tottenham Female Benefit Club, School for Girls and the Charity for Lying-In Woman. To mark this special occasion, we also got to enjoy seeing the unveiling of the plaque as the current plaque to Priscilla Wakefield was no longer legible. The installation of a replacement plaque was on the High Cross United Reform Church on Tottenham Green, on the site of Priscilla Wakefield’s home.
