Mystery Sensory Balloons – 3 January 2025
Mavis, wellbeing coordinator enlisted some help to create mystery sensory balloons. Our residents exercised their fine motor skills to carefully fill balloons with different ingredients, such as rice, sugar, flour, coffee, pearl barley and lentils.
The sensory balloons will be used in group sessions, where they will be distributed to participants and questions will be asked to stimulate cognitive engagement, such as what does the balloon feel like when you touch it? Is it hard or soft, lumpy or smooth? Can you guess what’s inside?
The sessions will engage multiple senses and promote cognitive stimulation, encourage reasoning and memory skills, foster camaraderie and teamwork and provide an enjoyable experience for wellbeing.
Thank you to everyone who helped create our sensory balloons! Team work makes the dream work!
