Dining Around the World – Indian Night – 24 June 2024

We Kicked off Care Home Open Week with our Dining Around the World Dining Experience at Dickens café. We invited family members to join their loved ones for an authentic Indian Meal while taking in the ambience and enjoying traditional Indian music. Gurpreet, wellbeing coordinator and Shailesh, maintenance assistant created a structure symbolising India Gate which is counted amongst the largest war memorials in India. This monument is a lasting tribute to the bravery of Indian Army soldiers with over 13,000 names etched on its walls to honour their memory and valour. Our India Gate was embellished with the Indian flag. Gurpreet and Shailesh went the extra mile sharing their skills to prepare an Indian feast. To start, chicken tikka, paneer tikka and samosas were offered followed by karahi chicken or Channa masala and Gulab jamun for dessert. The meal was complemented by plain or mango lassi served in traditional Indian clay cups. Everyone said how much they enjoyed the food and the company, Emily our resident on Pickwick said she wanted to have Indian food every day! We would like to say a big THANK YOU to Gurpreet and Shailesh for all their efforts and attention to detail to create an authentic Indian dining experience for our guests!
