Care Home Open Week Launch @ PWH – 26 June 2023

Care Home Open Week is about connecting communities!
We want to enrich the lives of the UK’s care home residents by engaging communities to meet residents and the exceptional care professionals that care for them.
We are determined to show people that care homes provide excellent care and connect well with their local communities.

We were proud to host the Launch of Care Home Open Week at PWH. Our Director Mitesh Dhanak, Care Home Open Week Committee Chair opened the proceedings.
This was followed by a film featuring staff from care homes talking about what participating in Care Home Open Week means to them. Helen Whately, Minister of State for Social Care sent a message of support. There was an amazing performance by Michael Gallagher and Charlene Reeves winners of Care Sector’s Got Talent 2023.
Vishal Shah, Vice Chair of Care Home Open Week, spoke about the inaugural ‘Great British Care Cycle Relay’ which will travel from the North to the South, visiting care homes along the way followed by the official launch of Care Home Open Week. Our resident Teresa was delighted to participate in the opening ceremony.
Our residents enjoyed the sounds of a steel pan duo from The Steel Pan Agency on our balcony.
In the courtyard there was fun & games!
Residents, staff, and visitors enjoyed a BBQ with an array of delicious accompaniments.
We were excited to welcome Earlsmead School Choir who delighted everyone with their performance.
This was followed by a performance by Katie Alyce, belly dancer. Katie got everyone involved with her high energy, vibrant performance.
It certainly was a fun packed day to remember!
We would like to say a big THANK YOU to our amazing team who all went the extra mile to ensure everyone had a great time!
