Care Home Open Week Celebration – 28 June 2024
The finale of our Care Home Open Week programme was our celebration in the courtyard on Friday 28 June. The celebration began with a BBQ, a delicious, flavoursome array of BBQ meats and a rainbow of accompaniments was provided by our fabulous catering team. The sound of steel pans filled the courtyard creating a relaxed Caribbean vibe, thanks to musicians from the Steel Pan Agency.
We were delighted to welcome The Worshipful the Mayor of Haringey, Cllr Sue Jameson who everyone was excited to meet. We were also excited to be joined by Cllr. Sheila Peacock and Professor Martin Green, Chief Executive of Care England, the largest representative body for independent social care services in the UK. Professor Green was invited to visit when he met our residents Teresa and Emily when they were all panelists at the Royal College of Nursing Annual Lecture in November last year. Teresa and Emily were excited to welcome Professor Green and greeted him warmly. Thank you also to Richmond Kessie and Marcella Gibbi, Commissioning & Quality Assurance Officers from Haringey Council for joining us.
PWH Got Talent provided our afternoon Entertainment, compered by Devrol, our Training Administrator. Sue Ann, our General Manager began our show with a sketch, Good morning Mr Customs, a poem written in Caribbean representing going to clear a barrel sent by a relative from England an event families are always looking forward to. This was followed by our Wellbeing Team singing I Have a Dream by ABBA. Incorporated in this performance was a Sing it Back Competition challenging residents, staff and family & friends from each floor to be the loudest in singing back the words of the late, great Bob Marley, One Love, One Heart, Let’s Get Together and Feel Alright. Havisham & Pickwick took the crown and will have a themed party of their choice during July. The entertainment continued with a mesmerising traditional Nepali dance performance from Shrijana, health care assistant on Nickleby. Yusuf, who is undertaking a work placement with the Wellbeing Team played the keyboard and sang Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles.
