WINNERS OF THE MAY COMPETITION – WHAT MAKES A GOOD KEY WORKER?

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the outstanding actions of our team members in the “What Makes a Good Key Worker?” competition. Here are some of the exceptional stories that highlight the dedication, compassion, and thoughtfulness of our key workers:

  • Sushma has been encouraging her key client to go out more often, which has had a positive impact on their well-being. The resident now feels more fulfilled, enjoying the fresh air and connection with the outside world.
  • Idris noticed his key client had worn-out clothing and immediately contacted their relative. Thanks to his proactive approach, the relative provided new clothes, ensuring the client felt more comfortable and cared for.
  • Naimul takes his key client out on the balcony to soak up the sun and gives them leg massages, offering both physical comfort and emotional well-being.
  • Jomarie regularly speaks to the families of his key clients, providing them with detailed updates and ensuring that loved ones are always informed about their care and well-being.
  • Gloria goes above and beyond by calling her key client’s family to discuss what items are needed and spends quality time with her client, making sure they feel valued and cherished.
  • Babatunde demonstrated immense dedication by going to Bruce Grove on his own time to get a specific Nigerian loaf of bread for his key client. He also set up an exercise channel on YouTube for them and ran errands at Tesco, ensuring their physical and emotional needs were met.
  • Sharminnahar communicated with her key client’s family about their eating preferences, creating a code to help carers understand that the client only enjoys black tea, showing her thoughtful approach to personalised care.
  • Jan helped his key client find and wear a specific scarf, which had been brought by a relative. This small yet meaningful gesture made the client feel loved and connected to their family.
  • Bibek enhanced his key client’s experience by setting up a device to play Ghanaian music and movies. He also engaged them in a conversation about politics, where the client shared their insightful views on current geopolitics, making them feel heard and valued.

These actions truly exemplify what it means to be a good key worker—thoughtfulness, empathy, and a strong commitment to improving the lives of the residents we care for. Congratulations to all participants for their exceptional contributions! Your care and dedication make a real difference.
